The rest of this page is the detailed version.
FeyCast is a weather app. This policy explains what information FeyCast handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the FeyCast app (including the iOS and Android versions) and the website at feycast.com. This policy is linked inside the app (Settings → Privacy) and from the App Store product page.
| Data | When it's used | Leaves your device? | Why | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Precise location | Only if you grant location permission | Yes — sent to weather/map/place providers | To show local forecast, radar, and conditions | Not stored by FeyCast as a user profile (may appear briefly in server logs — see below) |
| Manual place searches | When you search for or open a place | Yes — the place/coordinates go to providers | To return search results and weather | An aggregate, city-level count may be kept; it is not tied to you |
| Saved places, settings, units | As you use the app | No — stored on your device only | To remember your preferences | Until you clear app data or delete the app |
| Feedback you send | Only if you use in-app feedback | Yes — sent to us | To diagnose issues and reply to you | Kept for support; deleted on request |
| Server & diagnostic logs | On requests to our servers | Yes — standard hosting logs | Security, reliability, cost monitoring | Kept for a limited period, then rotated/deleted |
If you grant location permission, FeyCast uses your device's precise location to show weather for where you are. You can also search for places manually instead. Your precise coordinates are:
Sending precise location to these service providers is required for the app to function — it is the only way to retrieve weather for your spot. This is functional data sharing, not tracking, and it is not linked to a persistent FeyCast user or device identifier. The in-app permission prompt explains why precise location is requested before iOS asks you to allow it.
To deliver accurate weather, maps, radar, air quality, tides, satellite passes, and other features, FeyCast sends the minimum data necessary — your coordinates or the place you searched — to independent providers. We do not send account information, advertising identifiers, or persistent user profiles to them, and we do not authorize them to use FeyCast users' data for advertising or tracking. Each provider processes the data it receives under its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data needed for the feature you requested, and we require these providers to handle it consistently with this policy and to provide protection for your data at least equivalent to that required by applicable law and Apple's App Store Review Guidelines. The principal providers are:
This list may change as FeyCast adds or swaps data sources. We will reflect any change that materially affects your privacy in this policy.
Like most websites and hosted apps, our hosting and server software may process standard log data — including IP address, device/browser information (user agent), timestamps, and the URLs requested — for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and operating the service. This also applies to the in-app weather requests, since the app loads from feycast.com. FeyCast does not use this log data to build a profile of you, to advertise, or to track you across other apps or websites.
To keep FeyCast fast and reliable, our servers record a small amount of operational data:
FeyCast does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not build an advertising or behavioral profile of you.
If you use the in-app feedback option, we receive the message you write, an email address only if you choose to provide one, basic diagnostics (such as app version and launch mode), and a screenshot only if you attach one. If you attach a screenshot, it may include weather or map information from your current location at the time of submission. We use feedback and any attached image only to diagnose and respond to the issue you reported. You can ask us to delete a feedback submission at any time using the contact details below.
FeyCast is currently free. If FeyCast offers optional paid subscriptions in the future, payment will be handled entirely by the app store (for example, Apple's In-App Purchase). FeyCast will not receive or store your card number or payment credentials. To unlock paid features, the app store may share limited purchase information with us, such as your subscription status and transaction identifiers. You can view and cancel any subscription in your app store account settings.
FeyCast is a general-audience weather app. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information through feedback, contact us and we will delete it.
Most of your data never leaves your device. Server-side logs described above are kept in storage that is not publicly accessible, and are retained only for as long as needed for security, reliability, cost monitoring, and support — then rotated or deleted. Aggregate city-level counts may be kept longer because they are not tied to any individual. We use reasonable measures to protect data, though no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Most data requests are satisfied by these on-device controls, since FeyCast holds very little personal data and no account. Depending on where you live — including the EEA/UK (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), and Thailand (PDPA) — you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal data; contact us and we'll help.
FeyCast's data providers operate in various countries, so data needed to deliver weather may be processed outside your own country.
FeyCast is provided for general information. It is not an emergency alert service and should not be relied on as your only source for severe weather, aviation, marine, wildfire, or other life-safety decisions. Always follow official warnings and local authorities.
We may update this policy as FeyCast evolves. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page. If we later add optional features that change these practices (such as cloud sync or accounts), we will update this policy and the in-app disclosures before those features are released.
